While we have all sorts of more complex products in various stages of development, we're starting simple. The first product (actually a family of products) of Musiq Electroniq(tm) will be a collection of chord and drone samples and loops, particularly useful for rounding out live performance of various "alternative" genres, hip-hop and even traditional Celtic music.
The samples, available in ITune, wav, mp3 formats, will include:
- 2-note (root + 5th and root + 3rd, low as well as high variations) bowed (bass viol, 'cello and violin) chord/drone samples in all major and minor keys
- Variations of 3 and 4-note chord/drone samples from shruti boxes (chord/drone accompaniment instrument for the harmonium)...all major and minor keys
- Jaw harp notes in all keys
- Chord samples from a Uillean Pipe regulator (the attachment that plays chords) (key of D)
- Chord samples from various accordions, melodians and related instruments such as concertinas
- Lots of bagpipe drones
- And many more...
We are evaluating various sample/loop sample players, with an initial focus on stand-alone players
(i.e. no computer required). At the low end, we are looking a the iTouch and at the high-end, we are looking at the JL Cooper Sound Chest III, pictured here (click on the image for a larger view.)
